Texas is a BIG state! Lubbock to Austin

We've got three stops in Texas!

Tonight is #2, and we're in Austin.  It was a fairly uneventful drive today, but still nice.  I met my El Paso friends in Lubbock to pick up "Flip" and "Flop" to continue their journey with Barb and I.  (I can't remember if I've told that story…my ELP friends were supposed to join me on the entire trip, but weren't able to because of needing to care for an elderly parent.  So they each gave me one of their MINI flip flops, and I've been taking pictures with them along the way to share the journey in a so Not Normal way!)  After the Rise & Shine in Lubbock, we all rallied up in Brady, TX.  Brady is known as the "Heart of Texas", as it is the geographical center of the state.  We all parked around the town square, where we were welcomed by the Mayor, and took a few photos before heading out to find some lunch.

Barb had heard someone mention "Cooper's Pit BBQ" in Llano, so we went there to check it out.  It was pretty good, although the sauce was a bit thin and vinegary.  I had the chicken, and it was good enough by itself, without the sauce.  I also had to try their Pecan Cobbler…O…M….G…..!!!!  A little taste of heaven that I couldn't finish, but neither could I leave it behind!  I'm thinking midnight snack, if it lasts that long!  Lol!

We actually got to the hotel in Austin early for a change!  So I'm getting a head start on the blog.  Gonna grab a quick nap before we head over to the evening event.  I'll write more when we get back from that…should be a great night!!

Ok…we're back!  An absolutely beautiful night in Austin!  We were at the Palmer Events Center.  MINI USA had a live band, a few live Longhorns, and live armadillos!  I missed the armadillo races, tho.  They're awfully cute little critters, but I know they do some damage to the local landscape!  There were also a few food trucks, and as always, a well stocked bar!  The Center was nearby the Colorado River, and the Austin skyline was just beautiful!

Tomorrow we head to Dallas!  The route sheet mentions a drive-thru safari along the way, so that should be fun!  Hopefully we won't have any large animals try to take over the MINIs!!  Goodnight!
